The Game

The Game

“Behold! The magic of the all-seeing eye! Roll the dice and I will weigh your life on the scale of justice!”

               “What are you talking about?”

“Just roll the dice,” Emily told her best friend.

Lucy rolled a 3 and an “L” then walked 3 paces to her left. “What’s the point of this game?”

Emily rolled a 5 and a “J” then jumped in place 5 times. “To see…who can get…to the…fish pond first.”

“What’s at the fish pond?” Lucy rolled a 3 and a “B” and walked backwards 3 steps. “We’re never going to get there at this rate.”

“There’s this really cool teepee set up there.”

“Is that all? Why don’t we just walk there?”

“This is way more fun, isn’t it?” she said as she spun in a circle.

“If you say so.” Lucy walked backwards 5 more steps. “So whoever gets to the pond first wins then?”

“No silly. To win, you also have to be the first one to shoot an arrow through an apple.”

               “An apple?”

               “Yes.”

               “An arrow through an apple?”

“Of course. How else would you do it?”

               “Right…anything else I should know?”

               “Nope! Take your turn!”

Lucy rolled and moved 6 steps forward. “This is the silliest game ever.”

“Isn’t it great?” Emily giggled then rolled the dice.
