Bigfoot

“Big Foot has been sighted near that big tree over there,” our guide told us as we flew over the forest. “You’re sure you’re ready for this?”

I nodded at him. My partner looked worried.

“It’s easy,” said the guide. “Just remember to pull this right here. Ready? Go!”

I jumped out of the plane, enjoying the feeling of free fall for a few seconds before I pulled the chute and glided down the rest of the way.

We landed near a bridge that led towards the northern part of the forest. Slowly, not much faster than a turtle, we crossed over and headed in the direction of the latest sighting. Our compass pointed in the opposite direction. I shrugged. The guide had told us that the magnetism of the area was a little messed up.

After about 4 hours of crawling through the trees, we found a small cave. Turning on our flashlight, we took a step in. Near the back of the cave, there was the sound of heavy breathing.  Carefully, we took another step. The beast seemed to be sleeping. We took out our cameras and snapped a few pictures before backing out slowly. I stumbled over something behind me and with a loud crash, fell to the ground.

There was a loud roar from the back of the cave and I got up as fast as I could. We turned and ran back towards the clearing. I heard a scream from behind me. “Peter!” I yelled. He kept screaming for a few seconds, and then there was silence. I did not stop or turn around. Until I was back at the clearing.

Huffing and puffing I turned to look back at the bridge. It did not follow me, but poor Peter, I would miss him.
