Game Rules

Image
Game Rules                The phone rang. “Do you want to play a game?” asked a robotic voice on the other end of the line.                “Knock it off Julian!” I was tired of hearing that voice every time I answered his calls.                His voice returned to normal. “What say you?”                “What kind of game?” His games were usually a little bizarre and I never really understood them, so I was always leery of agreeing to play.                “Just meet me by the tower in ten minutes. You won’t regret it.”                “I already do.” I hu...

The Game

The Game                “Behold! The magic of the all-seeing eye ! Roll the dice and I will weigh your life on the scale of justice!”                “What are you talking about?”                “Just roll the dice,” Emily told her best friend.                Lucy rolled a 3 and an “ L ” then walked 3 paces to her left. “What’s the point of this game?”                Emily rolled a 5 and a “J” then jumped in place 5 times. “To see…who can get…to the… fish pond first.”                “What’s at the fish pond?” Lucy rolled a 3 and a “B” and walked back...

The Witness

The Witness                “Defense, please call your next witness.”                “Your honor, I call Baljeet to the stand.”                Baljeet climbed into the witness stand and went through the normal swearing in process.                “Now tell us what you witnessed that day, sir” his lawyer instructed.                “There was a bright light shooting through the sky like an arrow . It landed in the forest, not too far from where I live. So I decided to investigate. It was dark out, so I grabbed my flashlig...

Reboot

To those who may read these stories (Dearest readers?): I have taken a couple years off from this blog, obviously. Well, I never formed the habit of working on this daily like I had planned, so I let it lapse with the promise of returning to it. Today is that day, even if it is 2 years later than planned. Due to life events last year, I found myself unable to write. I love writing, I just haven't been able to do it. So I'm restarting this blog with the hope that this will inspire me to get back into the groove. Enjoy my cheesy stories based on the cubes, write your own and post, or simply scroll by and find something more to your liking. I leave that decision to you. Me

The play

Image
The drama class became worried when their teacher told them that this year they would be working on a play about the Native Americans.                “Which tribe?” Susan asked.                “What props do we need?” asked Ed.                “Are you sure this is culturally appropriate?” came a voice from the back.                Mr. Matthews sighed. He knew this wouldn’t be easy, but he had been told that his job depended on them doing this and doing it right. The fiasco revolving last year’s production of Guys and Dolls , the incident with the dice . He shook the thought out of his head.   ...

Bigfoot

Image
“Big Foot has been sighted near that big tree over there,” our guide told us as we flew over the forest. “You’re sure you’re ready for this?”                I nodded at him. My partner looked worried .                “It’s easy,” said the guide. “Just remember to pull this right here. Ready? Go!”                I jumped out of the plane , enjoying the feeling of free fall for a few seconds before I pulled the chute and glided down the rest of the way.                We landed near a bridge that led towards the northern part of the forest. Slowly, not much faster than a turtle , we crossed over and headed in ...

The Turtle

Penelope was sound asleep when her phone rang.                “The turtle is out again,” said the voice on the other end.                “Darn it,” Penelope said. “I was having an amazing dream that I was in Egypt. The pyramids were amazing.”                “This is no time for dreaming! Get up and go find that turtle!”                Penelope was not worried . She knew exactly where it was. There was an apple tree down by the bridge and the turtle loved to eat the apples that had fallen down. As she made her way down the hill...
